My Thoughts Are Not Your Thoughts
DAY 1 – My Thoughts & My Ways – Isaiah 55:8-12
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. “For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:8-12
God’s thoughts are His and His alone. Can you honestly tell me that you have a full understanding as to the current condition of the earth today when compared to its beginning? Sure, we can all dig up some good answers pertaining to the discovery of natural resources and the advancement of technology. Do you have a complete and full understanding of it all, 100%? And what about the creation of the earth itself? None of us do. None of us ever could or will understand it all, for it is all far too much for any one person to contain all of that knowledge.
Look at what God said in Job 38,
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, “Or who enclosed the sea with doors When, bursting forth, it went out from the womb; “Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, and caused the dawn to know its place, “Have you entered into the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep? Have the gates of death been revealed to you, or have you seen the gates of deep darkness? Have you understood the expanse of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this. “Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, which I have reserved for the time of distress, for the day of war and battle? Where is the way that the light is divided, or the east wind scattered on the earth? Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew? From whose womb has come the ice? And the frost of heaven, who has given it birth? Water becomes hard like stone, and the surface of the deep is imprisoned. “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, so that an abundance of water will cover you? Can you send forth lightnings that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’? Who has put wisdom in the innermost being or given understanding to the mind?”
(Job 38:4-6, 8, 12, 16-19, 22-24, 28-30, 34-36 NASB)
God alone has full understanding, from the creation of the earth and before to the present day and time and for all eternity; God is Omniscient, all knowing. He possesses perfect knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in the fullest completeness of these attributes. Remember, it is God who created the dirt of the earth.
God’s ways are not our ways; He does things in His own manner of operating, which again, is far beyond our own understanding. Do you think that it is by man’s own ways and doing that man has been at odds and war with one another since shortly after God created the earth? It all started with the forbidden tree and fruit which introduced sin, which landed Adam and Eve outside of the Garden of Eden, eventually leading to Cain killing Abel, and on from there building into what we see around the world today. At the core of who we are, we do not want war and the death that it births inside of us all. We would like to see peace everywhere. Remember, we are all created in God’s image. However, the largest war this world has ever experienced is not physical, but spiritual. The war that rages on inside of us all. The war between good and evil, those of us who God created and Satan and his evil forces of darkness. It is Satan who has created the dissension that exists in the world today and who deceive Eve.
In this life, with our limited understanding, we will never fully understand why God has allowed Satan so much power in his roaming around to inflict people and the earth as he has. We simply can’t understand to the fullest limits and extent that God understands things. ““The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29)
Prayer
Abba, Father God, I pray and ask that You would increase my ability to understand Your thoughts and Your ways. Oh, that You would expand and increase my knowledge and wisdom and understanding of who You are. In the Name of Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach, our Messiah. Amen!
Questions for Further Thought
Have you considered God’s thoughts and asked Him to help you understand them? If not, do so now and see if He will increase your understanding of His thoughts.
Have you considered God’s ways and asked Him to help you understand them? If not, do so now and see if He will increase your understanding of His ways.
We have been fighting a Spiritual War since the Garden of Eden. Ask God to expand your knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to be able to stand against the forces of darkness present in the world today. Read Ephesians 6:10-18. How has God enabled us to stand and fight against Satan in this war?
