The Move to Remote
Content Creation & Customer Relations
So I have started the journey to becoming a fully remote worker, and traveling full time. If you ask me, there is no better way to work as a Content Creator and Customer Relations specialist, than as a remote worker in today’s world. Why do I say this? There are several reasons.
1) Everything in today’s world has digital technology influence built in to it in one way or another. Computer and IT systems are the backbone of all businesses today. It doesn’t matter if you are a one person business and entrepreneur or if you work in a fortune 1000 enterprise business and organization. The business computer and IT system drives every ounce of business data flow and communications, from HR to Floor Worker inputs and outputs, from R&D to the Executive Suite, and everything else in between. The management of every sort of DATA are recorded and maintained through a variety of systems. These systems require people regardless of how much AI and ML have advanced. You cannot let these systems go unchecked. Does a data manager really have to be confined to one location?
2) Businesses and Organizations require people to help grow their Customer Base of both internal and external customers. If you are a technician in the automation office, for example, who installs systems, employees in any office on campus is considered an internal customer. Businesses and contractors you work with who enable you to do your work to completion are considered external customers. Without great customer relationship skills, your business will only be so good and has the potential to suffer greatly at the expense of one employee. A remote worker has the advantage of interacting with many different people and within a much larger array of environments vs. just working in one location with the same people everyday. Think of how much relationship management can be magnified if remote workers travel along with the work they do. The more experience any one has with interacting with others, the more effective they become as communicators and relationship management specialists. Then, to top it off, if your customer relationship specialist is only focused on the relationship and not the technical work, they can hone their skills in relationship building and management that much more. They then become much more effective at what they do instead of splitting up their time between different specialties.
3) Every business, company, and organization must have a vision and mission statement that drives their purpose! If there is purpose without vision, your purpose is nothing more than a great idea. If you have no mission statement that drives your purpose, your purpose will have zero movement and impact on others. A Vision and Mission puts your purpose into action. This cannot be fully put into practice and play without a great team that can help you communicate these three elements that drive your company forward into action. This team is your team of content creators which can contain a variety of different roles and positions. Each company has an expert team of media specialists, marketers, user experience specialists, and more. Without these channels of communication experts, any business and organization can and will suffer eventually.
Here is the BIG PICTURE MESSAGE: all of these roles and positions can be done remotely, from the comforts of home.
It would never seem as though it would be that hard to land a job doing these kinds of work remotely, but for those of us who have found it hard to get into these jobs, keep your faith as there are always hundreds and thousands of these job’s, seemingly, and this just after a few weeks of searching just a handful of specific sites out there that primarily promote remote jobs. And with the advancement of job training and mentoring these days, again, why does it seem as though these jobs are so hard to land? Who really has the answer? Is it a certain skill or an entire skill set? Is it a certain certification or combination of certifications? What happened to the days where experience, coupled with good conversation time spent during the interview process, could land you a great job? What happened to the days where a company would bring you on board even if it meant an initial investment of job training in person and on the computer? Most all job training today can be completed 100% virtually via the internet and zoom or any other video conferencing platform.
It’s highly possible and encouraging to know so many other people who work remotely to know that anyone should be able to land a remote job. Be patient and have faith, those of you, along with myself, that remote job will show up eventually.
