“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Jesus; Matthew 28:19-20

31 Days of Proverbs Moment

Then you will discern the Fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:5

Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours; you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God. (Message Bible)

1 Corinthians 13:12; Proverbs 1:7; Acts 9:31; 1 Sam. 2:3; 2 Peter 1:3

The letters to the church in Corinth, written by Paul, were written with the purpose to help lead and guide the Corinthian people away from the immorality, division, and selfishness that had grown up and grown within them. Paul challenges the Corinthians, and in effect challenges us all to pursue God with every ounce of their being. As you read through the Books of the Corinthians, you see the church put to the test against God’s very word. Proverbs 2:4 states: If you see her (wisdom) as silver and search for her as for hidden treasure;” The Message Bible says the following: Searching for it like a prospector panning for Gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt…” Prospectors and Adventurers may not be able to deliver a definitive answer to the question “Where Is It?” in the midst of the search, but they will distinctly know it when they see it, when the search is at its end. Prospectors and Adventurers, these are not simply job titles or descriptions, they are a lifestyle. As Christians, Christ Followers, we are all prospectors and adventurers in pursuit of finding God. We are living our lives striving to find a deeper and much grander amount of the wisdom and knowledge of God; who He is, how to Love like He loves, how to Live like Jesus more and more every day – this is our striving! It is this innate Fear of God that keeps us going.

1 Corinthians 13:12 – For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.

As we continue this Pursuit of God, to know Him better, to know Him more fully, to lean more heavily into Him, the stronger our relationship with Him becomes.  Our relationship with God the Holy Spirit will abound to a much greater degree and a much deeper and higher level.  As we dive head first into our relationship with God, the Holy Spirit will teach us the wisdom and knowledge of God.  King David and King Solomon both knew what it meant to Fear the Lord which lead to their discovery of the deep wisdom and knowledge of God that they possessed.  King Solomon’s one request of God before he fully took on his kingship was that God would give him the wisdom and knowledge required to lead the people of God, the Children of Israel.  If we would all desire this same wisdom and knowledge, and pursue it daily, how much different this world could be.

REFLECTION : What is God saying to you through todays reading?

In your own personal life, do you truly desire the same kind of wisdom and knowledge that both King David and King Solomon desired from God?

Do you consider yourself to be a true adversary and adventurer for Christ Jesus, pursuing God day in and day out?

As Paul says, “we see dimly now.” David said in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Is God the light lighting your path everyday?
